Nowadays almost every application processing precious data like contacts, photos, emails, messages etc. utilizes the feature of Auto-Sync. This feature was introduced to keep a backup to important data in case of data loss or device loss. Auto-Sync works on private servers hosted by app companies storing the data of logged in Users.

Auto-Sync enabled phones upload any sensitive or regarding important data instantaneously to the servers provided by respective apps. If we take an example of Gmail app on Android, whenever a new mail is received, it automatically syncs the phone to server and provides the email on phone.
Similarly Synced Whatsapp account automatically keeps uploading the messages received and sent to the their private server.

This is very beneficial in case of any accidental data loss, lost device or device theft. Users can simply logon to the servers using their accounts and retrieve back their lost data.

Well everything has a defect and Auto-Sync's defect is battery drainage. Auto-Sync works efficiently on data networks either on Wifi or cellular data. This in turn demands for more battery power. Auto-Sync is mostly set to validate after every 15 minutes interval. After every 15 minutes, Auto-Sync utilizes data to update the services.
