Qualcomm has finally launched its first premium mid-range Processor under its new Snapdragon 700 series of processors. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor sits between the Snapdragon 660 and the flagship Snapdragon 845 processor. With this new series, Qualcomm wants to bring some of the premium features from the 800 series to a larger audience at low cost.

“The Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform is the first in the newly defined and highly significant 700-tier, offering technologies and features previously only available in our premium-tier mobile platforms,” said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

This processor will soon be found in many of the budget and mid-range smartphones. This will keep the smartphones in the mid-range segment providing a superior processor. The new octa-core processor comes with two 2.2Ghz ARM Cortex-A75 high-performance cores and six 1.7Ghz ARM Cortex-A55 cores for better efficiency.

It will consume 40% less power than the Snapdragon 660 while 4K video recording. According to the company, it comes with 20% overall uplift in performance, 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app launch times, compared to the Snapdragon 660. It comes equipped with the latest Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ which gives 50% battery in 15 minutes.

The Snapdragon 710 processor comes coupled with Adreno 616 GPU which allow for 35% faster graphics rendering and 40% less power consumption. It is built on 10nm processor technology and comes with support for multi-core AI processing and neural network processing.

The new Snapdragon 710 mobile platform comes with all the latest feature support like Face Unlock, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual camera setup 4K HDR playback etc. The processor is available today and we can expect it to power many budgets and mid-range smartphones in the second quarter of 2018.
