When compared with its predecessors 7 and 7 plus apple hasn't done anything appreciable.
Adding a back glass and support for wireless charge doesn't make phone stand different from others.

New apple I phone 8 and its bigger variant just boasts a new A11 chip, a glass back and wireless charging with improved dual cameras.

Although this design from apple still looks elegant despite used by other brands.Apple has put all its effort in design department since the launch of 7 and 7 plus to make the looks of phone different.
When it comes to camera the potrait mode on i phone 7 and 7 plus was much better when directly compared to one plus 5, mi 6.Camera is one section where apple has remain quite untouched.
But when we look at all the aspects of smart phone i think apple is falling short of innovations.This is not the same apple we had known earlier known for its extensive R & D.
Now moving to its another flagship i phone X which many people don't call 10 and many people are still bewildered what to call had created quite a buzz.
This phone sports a OLED panel now this panel is something which already LG manufactures and is used by many smartphones, dual camera setup is now more than year old and used even by oppo and other chinese vendors, infinity display is already being used by samsung s8 and  s8 plus and even indulged in new note 8 line up so here also nothing innovative by apple.
Adding more to the woe apple has ditched the touch id and decided to make people peep into their phone each time they have to unlock the device...now how accurate this face id will work in absence of touch id is a big question.
As far as we have heard only one face id is allowed.Now when apple has removed touch id there is no back button to navigate so apple has done kind of trick here to use its display gestures to go back,return home and open recent apps.
All in all the much hyped apple i phone X also hasn't much innovative to talk about.
The thing here to talk about is the pricing.For all the folks who were thinking price of note 8 was much higher would feel relieved knowing the price of i phone X to be starting from Rs 89,000 for 64 gb base variant in India and going directly up to more than 1,00,000.
Price for i phone 8 starts from 64k and this phones will be available for sale from 29th sept as stated by sources.
