Our regular readers know that we recently rebuilt our website. Our former Wordpress theme, Verbo, hadn’t been updated in over a year. If you’re using a published WordPress theme for your website, it’s important that the theme is updated regularly to patch security vulnerabilities and keep up with the current WordPress version. We chose to switch our site over to the Wellington theme by ThemeZee after finding the theme and customizing it for one of our website clients. We liked it to much we decided to use it for our own site redesign.




According to the developers:

Wellington is a clean and simple Magazine WordPress theme with beautiful typography and subtle colors. The theme includes two different post layouts, a featured post slider and thoughtful theme settings in the Customizer.

After we installed the theme into our site, we created a child theme so that we could customize various elements of the design. After that, we decided to make our child theme available to the public for download.

If you’ve never created or uploaded a child theme before, the guide at WPBeginner is quick and easy to follow.

The folks at ThemeZee make removing their information out of the footer a bit tricky, but our Wellington Child Theme already includes footer.php and functions.php files that do the work for you. All you have to do is edit line 8 of the functions.php file to make the footer say whatever you want.
