F.A Cup Preview: Battle At The Bridge As Chelsea Host Man Utd For A Place In The Semi-Final

Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge last October ended in a humiliating defeat, but the Manchester United manager heads back to his old stomping ground in the FA Cup with a side in impressive form.

Mourinho's United tenure got off to a rocky start with a series of inconsistent results, and a 4-0 thumping away at Chelsea provided him with his heaviest defeat since taking charge of the Premier League giants.

His team will be tougher this time, even without the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but Chelsea will play a stronger side than in previous rounds. They know they can inflict a significant psychological blow if they maintain their push for the Double.

This season, for the first time, quarter-finals will not go to replays. Over the weekend, all ties were won inside the 90 minutes. It means if the scores are level at Stamford Bridge a game will go to extra-time and potentially penalties at this stage in the tournament for the first time in the history of the FA Cup. In addition, both teams will also receive an additional substitution if it does.

Team News
Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of the FA Cup quarter-final at Chelsea, leaving his side without a recognised striker.

Rooney collided with Phil Jones in training and misses out with a leg injury, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic begins a three-game ban for elbowing Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings.

Forwards Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford [illness] are also missing.

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has a fully-fit squad at his disposal.

Fun Stat
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 11 meetings with Manchester United in all competitions (W6 D5), last losing to them 3-2 in October 2012.

The Reds have only won two of their last 19 league and cup games at Stamford Bridge (D6, L11).
