Even more shocking is the urgency in which the response came. LAST WEEK: 1 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 7 Latest result: Lost at Al Taawon 1-2 Next SPL match: Home against Al Batin (1/12) 3 Dominated an outmatched Qadasiyah team. They have the depth to compete for the title, but if they’re going to be the top team which they aim to be they’ll need to take advantage of every shot at goal. LAST WEEK: 4 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 3 Latest result: Won at Al Qadasiyah 3-0 Next SPL match: Home against Al Ettifaq (2/12) 4 They were fun in attack, and could have had more goals. Similar to last season, however, the defense started by showing off some bad old habits after giving up an early goal. LAST WEEK: 5 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Won against Al Faisaly 3-1 Next SPL match: Away at Al Ittihad (2/12) 5 Al Ahli obligated on attack in pursuit of the game-winner and got burned. The previous version of this team was exceptionally good at bouncing back from disappointment; we’ll see if the current group is the same way. LAST WEEK: 3 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 6 Latest result: Lost against Al Hilal 1-2 Next SPL match: Away at Al Faisaly (1/12) 6 Played without Benyettou, and simultaneously so Al Shabab were lacking in the creative end. At first, it was about finishing, now we can add the creative bit to it. LAST WEEK: 6 HIGH: 5 | LOW: 11 Latest result: Draw at Al Raed 2-2 Next SPL match: Away at Al Hilal (2/12) 7 Up there among the upset of the season, considering how Al Taawon’s season has been going so far. Scored two in two minutes and did well to hold off an in-form Al Nassr side. LAST WEEK: 10 HIGH: 9 | LOW: 12 Latest result: Won against Al Nassr 2-1 Next SPL match: Away at Al Khaleej (3/12) 8 Ended their 5 game winless streak but were lucky to get the W via the last minute goal. We are still suspicious of this team going far. LAST WEEK: 11 HIGH: 10 | LOW: 13 Latest result: Won at Al Wehda 2-1 Next SPL match: Home against Al Taawon (3/12) 9 Al Wehda were outstanding (in their own standards) until the last 15. That ET goal will hurt. LAST WEEK: 7 HIGH: 6 | LOW: 11 Latest result: Lost against Al Kahleej 1-2 Next SPL match: Away at Al Fateh (3/12) 10 The first goal was class from Bangoura. The second was even better from Sultan Al Sawadi. But hard to finish the game against a Sami Al Jaber inspired squad. LAST WEEK: 8 HIGH: 5 | LOW: 10 Latest result: Draw against Al Shabab 2-2 Next SPL match: Away at Al Qadasiyah (2/12) 11 Al Faisaly looked dangerous throughout the game’s early half-hour especially as they took the lead and maintained it going into second half, but they defence fell like a bag of crisps soon after the equaliser. LAST WEEK: 10 HIGH: 3 | LOW: 9 Latest result: Lost at Al Ettifaq 1-3 Next SPL match: Home against Al Ahli (1/12) 12 Had their first win of the season at their feet and let it slip away with some lax aerial marking. Cannot say that they looked very promising. LAST WEEK: 13 HIGH: 13 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Draw at Al Batin 1-1 Next SPL match: Home against Al Wehda (3/12) 13 Life’s proving to be difficult after a marvellous start to the season. LAST WEEK: 14 HIGH: 7 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Draw against Al Fateh 1-1 Next SPL match: Away at Al Nassr (1/12) 14 A ‘W’ was not expected here but entertaining us with some fight is all we ask for.
