Arsenal are perfectly capable of winning titles under Unai Emery

It has been about a week now since we learned of who would usher us into our new era. The importance of this change cannot be understated, as a big club we have stagnated for far too long and it has had very little to do with the players we have, it was down to poor management. Don’t believe me? Let’s take a closer look at some of the main players in our squad:
Petr Cech
He hasn’t had the best season we can all agree on that but you cannot tell me class isn’t permanent. This is a world class keeper just like we saw in his Chelsea days constantly making clutch saves not least in the Champions League final to bring them glory. There is a quality keeper in there he just needs the right guidance.
Shkodran Mustafi
A centre back who was in the Germany squad when we acquired him for a handsome £35m from Valencia. Again, there’s a class defender in there and we’ve seen glimpses of this. He’s made mistakes this season but due to the mismanagement of the defensive system as a whole he’s made to look worse than he actually is. A lot of the time he’s cleaning up the mess left by a dysfunctional set up and he’s often the last man with too much to do. He certainly needs to improve but there’s a hidden gem in there and he will be our main CB given the departure of Mertesacker and the long term injury to Koscielny.
Sead Kolasinac
You don’t make Bundesliga team of the year ahead of the likes of Alaba for no reason. Many pundits were saying we got a €30m defender for free and with good reason. His physical presence alone is something under-utilised by Wenger and with Monreal aging there is no better time than the present to uncover his true potential.
Hector Bellerin

We all know the undoubted talent of Hector. His defensive duties need a little tweaking however, it is the attacking threat which he can be deadly in which is lacking the most. He has tremendous confidence in character (just check out his instagram) however this doesn’t always translate on the pitch. During the warm up he’s putting in pin point crosses but this is absent throughout the game. Once again, this lack of confidence is due to poor management and I’m hoping it is something Emery can bring to the fore.
Grant Xhaka
Another one who’s had a shocker of a season. We saw early on his career when he was making long range shots from deep, and long range passes, something he loved to do at his former club. We loved those long range goals and then what happened? Wenger fined him for making long range shots and told him not to play to his strengths. This diminished him from an attacking sense and due to the aforementioned defensive issues he was always out of place and a mistake waiting to happen. I cannot fathom why Wenger wouldn’t play to the strengths of such a talented player. He is someone I am really looking forward to seeing under a more sane manager.
Mesut Ozil
This one is probably the most contentious of them all. Has his time at Arsenal been a failure so far? The answer is yes. A world class playmaker, just watch him for Germany or look at him at this time at Real Madrid, absolute poetry in motion. Wenger purchased Ozil in 2013, but only purchased a striker with pace that could complement him in Lacazette a full four years later. Aubameyang shortly followed but it was too little too late. Don’t get me wrong it’s not as if Ozil has had zero impact, but with all due respect you aren’t going to get the best out of him when your striker is Giroud. This is my point for each of the players above, is that they are exceptional players but Wenger never truly got the best out of them. I believe all the criticism of Ozil, him being made a scapegoat is simply wrong, like his team mates he wasn’t given the chance to shine under Wenger. Ozil has the most potential of all the players I’ve mentioned, and utilised properly he can be deadly and can wreak havoc on defences and give us a solid chance at the title. You don’t win German player of the year almost every year for nothing.
In conclusion it is clear that we already have a fantastic squad, you only need to see how they play for their country and former clubs to know it is a management problem at Arsenal in Wenger. With a new manager we have a new lease in life for our club, and exciting times are ahead.
