Duckworth–Lewis : Accepted by all Understood by a few

Cricket rules are being changed over the time but there are few rules which are Accepted by all and there are very rare chance that there will be change in such rules. Nowadays certain rules are made like size of the bat is limited to few dimension. These all the rules are approved by ICC but are created by MCC club at London.

From the beginning of the cricket there are many changes in rules of the cricket but there are some rules that haven't changed like size of pitch is restricted to 22 yards , and such rules will not change over the years. After test matches ODI matches came in to picture after that T20 then 10-10 overs, now those days are not far when we see match of 6 overs a side.

Over the years one thing in the world of cricket has never been changed , "The rivalry between A Cricket match and The Rain " . Years ago in 1971 when there was test match going on between Australia and England in Melbourne, first four days of match was washed due to rain. At last day to keep crowd happy match of 50 overs was played and since then it has become famous as ODI. In ODI if rain has interrupted then fielding side were given target based on how much other team has made after certain amount of over.

But due to inconvenience caused by such rules, Duckworth-Lewis system came into the picture. Duckworth and Lewis, two guys from England made a table for such scenarios. This table works such a way that at the end of the first inning if you enter the final total it will calculate that how much other team need to score at the end of any over of their inning. It is easy to calculate that final total but it is very hard to understand that formula. It is accepted by all over the world but understood by very few.
