Cricket rules that you are unaware of but still exist

In this post we have posted some rules of cricket of which you are unaware but still exist in international cricket.Few of them will really surprise you.

1. Match without bails on

Law 8.5 of the MCC states that, if the two captains agree and of course with the consent of the Umpire, game could be played without the bails on, at both ends.

2. Without appeal you get nothing.

The umpire can not declare a batsman out unless opponent side appeals. Hence, even if batsman is technically out and fielding team did not appeal, the umpire can not declare him out.

3. Don't be 'Guran' from Movie Lagaan.

A batsman will be declared out if willfully he hits the Ball with his bat more than once in a
single ball bowled by bowler.Inadvertent double strikes are given not out.

4. What if the ball is lost.

If the ball is lost and cannot be recovered   the fielding side can call it ‘lost ball’.   According to the law, the delivery then   becomes dead and is soon replaced with a   ball  whose condition was similar to the one   that was lost.

5.Fielding captain can decide.

If a batsman is declared out, there is a certain rule that if at all a skipper decides to take his appeal back and after he has had a word with the umpire, the batsman maybe called back.

6. This One Will Make You Go WTH.

If a catch is taken after the ball has touched the fielder's cap or helmet, then it's considered as not out. On the other hand, if the ball touches any other part of the body and then the player catches it, then it's considered out.

7. Wicketkeeper.

The wicket keeper cannot collect the ball in front of the stumps. If he does so, it becomes a NO-BALL.A substitute fielder is NOT allowed to keep wickets. A player nominated in the playing 11 must keep wickets and substitute fieler can field anywhere.

8. THIS ONE IS EPIC!!!

law 27.3: Timing of appeals- To keep it simple, let us assume the fielders do not appeal to an event immediately after the event, it doesnt mean that fielding team have lost their case. One of their smart members can consult the umpire and ask the umpire “How is that” before the bowler starts his bowling action for the next ball. The umpire can answer that appeal either OUT or NOTOUT.
