Riverhounds defeated on the road, 2-1

Rain, rain go away.

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds were stuck in their locker room an hour later than expected, as their match against the Richmond Kickers was delayed due to thunderstorms.

However, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, the match was underway. The Riverhounds, who were previously unbeaten on the road, were not able to keep their streak alive.

In goal was birthday boy Trey Mitchell, and back on defense was Rich Balchan, whom has recovered from a groin injury. Early in the match, Ritchie Duffie was forced to come in the match in the 23′ Minute to replace Jamal Jack at the centerback position.

The Kickers set the tone early, with Fred Owusu Sekyere scoring the opening goal in the 15′ minute. Sekyere’s goal was assisted by Raul Gonzalez. The tone was set early again in the second half, as Alhaji Kamara scored in the 47′ minute. His goal was unassisted.

The Riverhounds were able to cut the lead, with Marshall Hollingsworth scoring on an unassisted goal in the 60′ minute.

However, it wasn’t enough to claim any points. As for a positive, the Riverhounds, and the Kickers, did not receive any yellow or red cards.

The Riverhounds will return to Highmark Stadium on Saturday to face the Harrisburg City Islanders. The match is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff time and tickets are still available.
