Best Places to Study in Barcelona

Best Places to Study in Barcelona

There are nearly a million different places in Barcelona for great “cafe con leche”, a quiet workspace, or late and/or early hours for those with a crazy schedule. However, not all of them have dependable Wi-Fi, a large menu, and a quiet atmosphere to get your work done in. At CeleBreak, we have a lot of students who play in our pick-up sessions, leagues, and tournaments, that also need to do homework and study. Here are our recommendations for some of the best places to study (or do other work) in Barcelona:

For an empty stomach….

Alsur Cafe

With 7 locations in different areas of Barcelona, Alsur Cafe has quickly become one of Barcelona’s best study and brunch spots. Each of the locations has a great, relaxing atmosphere with comfortable seat pillows, and tables specifically for laptops. There is free Wi-Fi that is reliable, and a great staff that is always ready to get you what you need. One of the things that makes Alsur Cafe a great place to work is their menu. Not only do they have a full coffee and drink bar, they also offer delicious Food items. Some of their most popular food includes chicken and waffles, and their decedent carrot cake or Oreo pancakes. If you need to treat yourself to some food after studying for hours, Alsur Cafe has a great menu and atmosphere to do so.

For healthy options…

Alma Libre

Alma Libre is a hidden gem restaurant/café in Eixample that offers a wide variety of coffee and vegan food options. The restaurant itself is small but has a great atmosphere with lots of light and plants, as well as awesome music to keep you relaxed while you study. They have average priced coffee but are more known for their wide variety of juices, made fresh to order. On top of the healthy juices, they have a great menu of vegan and healthy options to fuel your brain. They are most known for their acai bowls and some other great vegan food such as vegan hamburgers, salads and quinoa bowls. The price is great for healthy and vegan food and is a great option to supplement your studies.

For group work..

Federal Café

Federal Café is a great café and brunch spot with long hours to maximize your work time. With 2 locations in Barcelona, the location in the Gothic Quarter has a cute and modern interior, but the outdoor seating terrace is perfect for a nice afternoon (however, be aware of the extra 10% terrace fee). There is a wide variety of coffee and drinks and a great food and brunch menu. The only downside is the food is bit more expensive than other places for similar food. The location is big enough to have a group of friends or a school group meet to work together. In fact, that is more encouraged there, because of the success of the restaurant. If you are there during peak hours alone, you might get asked to move so people can be seated at the restaurant. If you are at the group work table, it is perfect to your work done in a great atmosphere.

For an interesting co-working space..

CoCo Coffice

One of the most interesting places and trendy ideas combine in this co-working space, where “coffee + co-working office = coffice”. This office is open for anyone to come work in and has a “pay by the use” system. If you need a few hours to work, you can pay by the hour (4 euro per hour), or for more long-term options, you can pay by the day (15 euro/day), week (65 euro/week), or month (210 euro/month). Part of the fee that you pay for the use of the office gets you unlimited tea, coffee and water, as well as some fruits and snacks, and access to the kitchen. For an extra price you can get higher quality snacks and drinks at the location, and reserve tables or rooms for meetings or group work. The space itself is modern and clean, with sleek features and comfortable, quiet working environment. Since almost everyone who comes is trying to work, and is paying for their time there, it is a great place to focus and avoid distractions that might be present at other cafes.

There is a lot of light in the café, with free Wi-Fi and great food and drinks options. It is most known for its selection of cakes and pastries to satisfy your sweet tooth.  The price is low to average for a café of this nature, but the pastries, juices and sandwiches make it a great place to do work. The furnishings give it a unique vibe that is hard to find in Barcelona, but also makes it a cozy place to study and focus on your work.
