How to Build a Static Website on IIS




This article describes how to build a static website on IIS (Internet Information Services)





Step 1: Install IIS Web Server



To install IIS on Windows Server 2016 by using the GUI,



1.  On the Start page, click the Server Manager, and then click OK






2. In Server Manager ,  Click Add roles and features, then following window will open. Click Next






 3. On the Select Installation Type page, select Role-based or Feature-based Installation and click Next






4. On the Server Selection page, select Select a server from the server pool, select the name of your computer, and click Next






5. On the Select Server Roles page, select Web Server (IIS), and then click Next.






6. Click on Add Features






7. On the Select Server Roles page, Click Next






8. On the Select Features page, Click Next







9. On Web Server Role (IIS) page, Click Next







10. On the Select Role Services page, Click Next






11. On the Confirm Installation Selections page, Click Install




12. Installation Completed







Step 2: Add your Website



 1. On the Start page, click the Server Manager, and then click OK. In Server Manager click Tools menu and select Internet Information Service (IIS) Manager






2. On IIS Manager, right click on sites and select Add Website







3. While adding your website, Fill site name, physical path, binding IP address and host name. Click OK






4. Test your website :  http://localhost/mysite/
