Tottenham Comeback to Hold Juve, Man City Dominant in Champions League

Positive results were earned by two Premier League teams on Champions League knock out stages first leg as Tottenham Hotspur drew 2-2 away against Juventus, while Manchester City slammed Basel in Switzerland.

Playing in Turin, Mauricio Pochettino’s men were in for a long night when they found themselves going 1-0 down after just two minutes through Gonzalo Higuain’s first time shot inside the penalty area.

Things got even more complicated for the visitor when Juve earned a spot kick, which was converted well by Higuain on nine minutes.

However, Spurs were able to bounce back after going 2-0 as they started to dominate possession and created chances, until Harry Kane eventually pulled one back for the Premier League outfit on 35 minutes.

Still, that tie could swing back into Juventus’ favor when they got another spot kick just before half time break, but unfortunately this time Higuain failed his job as his shot hit the bar, keeping the score 2-1 going into second half.

After the break, Tottenham continuing their dominant display and got themselves back on level terms thanks to Christian Eriksen’s cheeky free kick on 71 minutes, which lasted until the final whistle was blown.

Meanwhile, Man City showcasing why they’re one of the favorites to win it all as Pep Guardiola’s men comfortably demolishing Basel 4-0.

Having to play away in their first leg battle didn’t seem to bother City at all as they dominate proceeding since kick off and got in front after just 14 minutes through Ilkay Gundogan’s effort.

Four minutes later it was 2-0 for the away side as Bernardo Silva doubling his team’s advantage, before Sergio Aguero practically ended the contest during that first 45 minutes with his goal on 23rd minutes.

In the second half, Man City remain dominant, but they were much more laid back and calmer, though they still able to add one more goal, with another effort from Gundogan.
