Manchester City picked up an important victory on their latest Premier League fixture as they defeated Southampton 3-0 to go third in current standings.

Playing away from home, City were determined to grab all three points as it will put them ahead of Liverpool on the league table.

However, it was not an easy match for Pep Guardiola’s men, especially in the first 45 minutes as they were struggling to break down The Saints resilience.

Things eventually changed after the break, starting with Vincent Kompany’s opener on 55 minutes which pretty much triggered City’s victory.

Leroy Sane added the second on 77 minutes, before Sergio Aguero eventually sealed that tie with his goal three minutes later.

An important result indeed for Guardiola’s boys as they continue to consolidate their position in that top four seat.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur keeping their title hopes alive and well as they hammered Bournemouth 4-0 at home.

Spurs started their dominance on 16 minutes through Mousa Dembele’s effort, which soon followed with a second goal scored by Heung Min-Son three minutes afterwards.

The Lilywhites kept on pushing hard after the break as they immediately netted a third one on 48 minutes through their star striker, Harry Kane.

Substitute, Vincent Janssen also got his name on the score sheet as he netted the fourth goal deep in stoppage time to make it 4-0.
