Nebraska Baseball's Chad Luensman Leads Eight Huskers With All-B1G Honors

The Husker reliever was named Conference Freshman of the year.

The postseason accolades were released for the 2016 Big Ten Baseball season. The Nebraska Cornhuskers were well represented with the leading note being Freshman Pitcher Chad Luensmann being named Big Ten Freshman of the year, the first time any Husker has won that award in program history.

Luensmann, who was drafted in the 39th round of the Major League Baseball draft last spring by the New York Mets, turned down a pro contract to come to Lincoln. The Husker hurler responded by appearing in 26 games and getting the save 13 times in 14 chances for the Huskers. His 13 saves is ninth best in Division 1 Baseball currently.

Luensmann was also named second team All-Big Ten, while being one of two Huskers named to the All-Freshman team with Matt Waldron.

The Huskers placed one player on the First Team All-Big Ten team in Sophomore Second Baseman Scott Schreiber. Shortstop Steven Reveles & Outfielder Ryan Boldt joined Luensmann on the All-Big Ten Second Team.

Multi-use player Jake Meyers and Designated Hitter Ben Miller was placed on the All-Big Ten Third Team. Senior Catcher Taylor Fish was named Nebraska's Sportsmanship Award honoree.
