ONE: The Big House Is Just That...It’s Big

And from what I’ve heard not very loud.

So Nebraska should not be worried about a perceived home field advantage for Michigan.

I could be wrong, but I won’t hold my breath.

TWO: Adrian Martinez Should Be Ready to Go and Michigan Hasn’t Seen a Quarterback Like Him

What a difference a dynamic and talented quarterback can make. We saw flashes during the Colorado game of why Scott Frost made Adrian Martinez a priority the moment he was hired.

The kid looks like a stronger Taylor Martinez who can actually throw a decent Ball. In this offense, if things start clicking then watch out.

I think his ability to put pressure on the defense in ways that Andrew Bunch cannot will make things more difficult for the Michigan Wolverines.

THREE: The Nebraska Front Seven Is Dominant

If there is anything to believe in, it might be the front seven of Nebraska.

Nebraska is averaging 5.0 sacks a game, which is currently 2nd in the country. Two games in and we are almost to our total for last year (14).

Jim Harbaugh was a little cryptic about the health status of both senior running back Karan Higdon and junior running back Chris Evans during his Monday press conference.

However it sounds like their two starting running backs should be good to go for the game. But they won’t be 100%.

And it might not matter because teams are having trouble running the ball against Nebraska.

Nebraska’s rushing defense is currently ranked 19th in the country. If you take away the 57 yard run (as a result of an assignment error) by back-up quarterback Sawyer Smith in the 2nd quarter, then Nebraska would be ranked 6th.

Michigan wants to run the ball. Then run the ball. Then run the ball. Then throw a bomb.

If they can’t run the ball then Shea Patterson might have to win it for them. Which I’m not sure he can do.

FOUR: Nebraska Is Having Success Running The Ball

Currently ranked 18th in the country at 258 rushing yards per game.

Michigan is 37th in the country at defending the run. With Adrian Martinez back in the fold it will be the first mobile quarterback Michigan has seen since playing Notre Dame in the first week.

If Nebraska can establish a running game and can control the line of scrimmage on offense then we win.

FIVE: Nebraska Is 0-2 Because Of A Storm And Self-inflicted Mistakes

The talent is right there in front of your eyes and so is the coaching. It was evident in the game against Colorado.

However, the players and the coaches continued to shoot themselves in the foot by continuing to turn the ball over, making special teams mistakes and very untimely penalties.

We have not been beaten by the other teams, we have been beaten by ourselves.

Which is why I think in a game away from Memorial Stadium, that things might get tightened up. The focus might be heightened. And we might hold on to the ball.

If we do, then we win.
