How would you feel about the Jacksonville Jaguars giving up two first-round picks to draft Josh Allen?

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ biggest need is quarterback. After signing the only quarterback on their roster in Blake Bortles to a bridge deal that will likely only last one or two years, it’s absolutely essential for the team to capitalize on what is a two-year window that they will have one of the best defenses in the NFL.

And that might mean going after a quarterback early in the 2018 NFL Draft.

It’ll cost an arm and a leg (and probably another arm) to move up high enough to get one of the first few quarterbacks and Eric Galko has envisioned it over at SportingNews.com.

So, who do the Jaguars give up the war chest for?

Josh Allen out of Wyoming.

“After Darnold at No. 1 overall, there’s a good chance all quarterbacks drafted in Round 1 will be selected following a trade. The Jaguars re-signed Blake Bortles to what amounts to a Mike Glennon-Bears-like contract. They still need a quarterback for the future and not much else. Trading this year’s first-round pick and next year’s first-round pick (and maybe a little more) could do the trick.”

I... don’t know.

Everything coming out about Allen is that he’s a big-armed, strong, athletic quarterback who will reach his potential long-term if he takes his rookie year to sit and develop. If the Jaguars are going to give up that much to take advantage of a small window of opportunity, they’ll need someone who can come in and challenge Bortles sooner than that. Allowing Bortles to be the de facto starter for all of 2018 when his extension is structured in a way that allows the team to move on after this year just doesn’t make a lot of sense.
