Jaguars have a plan for back up QB

The Jacksonville Jaguars held a press conference on Thursday to introduce some of their new free agent signings and talk about other positions and where else they could go during 2018 NFL free agency. One interesting comment made by general manager Dave Caldwell was about the quarterback position.

Most figured the Jaguars would just re-sign Henne, but Caldwell mentioned that they have a plan for the back up quarterback position and it doesn’t necessarily need to be a Veteran.

Currently, recently re-signed Blake Bortles is the only quarterback under contract for the Jaguars. Former backup Chad Henne seems to have a healthy interest in his services as a backup, visiting with the Tennessee Titans and getting interest from the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins.

There are a few possible veteran targets still on the market, but the Jaguars seem to be setting themselves up to not be in a position to have to pick a certain position at pick No. 29 in the 2018 NFL Draft and could seemingly pick whatever they want, maybe even a quarterback.
