2017 Jaguars NFL Draft: Jamal Adams film breakdown

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of options open to them with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft — and one prediction that keeps getting made (even though it shouldn’t) is LSU Safety Jamal Adams.

Brett Kollmann of Battle Red Blog put together a scouting video on Adams — enjoy and let’s talk about if Adams should be a top-five pick or not.

The King of Death Valley

Here’s what Kollman says about Adams going into the draft process:

Adams' insane physical talent is evident from the moment you first put his tape on, but perhaps his biggest asset of all is the leadership and culture change he can deliver to an NFL locker room. He was the heartbeat of the Tiger defense for the last three years, and he has the toughness, work ethic, and football IQ to perform that same role in the pros as well.

If your defense could use a do-it-all safety that can play multiple positions on the field while simultaneously upping the intensity level of his entire unit, then Jamal Adams is your guy. Just wind him up and watch him go - I promise you won't be disappointed.

Be that as it may... a safety? In the top-five? Not now, not ever.

You don’t pick a safety top-five. That’s how 3-13 teams stay 3-13. You have gaping holes at tight end, running back, defensive end, and all along the offensive line. Picking a traditional safety should be way down the totem pole of priorities for this regime.

Tom Coughlin ain’t drafting a safety in the top-five of any draft. Not when he’s got defensive linemen like Jonathan Allen or pass rushers like Solomon Thomas or tight ends like O.J. Thomas or running backs Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette to salivate over.

What do you think?
