Good morning, Broncos Country!

Nothing compares to the rivalry between the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos. As a born-and-raised Raider Hater, it should make sense. Call me old school, but I’m still of the belief that the Broncos could lose 14 games, as long as they beat Oakland twice.

Perhaps that’s nostalgia. Perhaps that’s history. I just call it hating the Raiders and everything about the franchise.

Will Denver get back on track after the tough loss to the Buffalo Bills? Will anyone on the Broncos offensive line block Khalil Mack? How many animals-hunting-animals videos will Jack of the River have shown prior to today?

As I have done the first three weeks and will continue to do the rest of the season in this space, let’s look at some of the notes from this classic, historical matchup and records that specific Broncos can attain in this game.

Here is a look at the Broncos and Raiders throughout the years, courtesy of Denver’s weekly report.

• Today marks the 114th game between the Broncos and Raiders in the regular season. The first was on Oct. 2, 1960 in Denver, a 31-14 Broncos win.
• The Broncos own a 50-61-2 all-time record vs the Raiders. That includes a 25-29-2 mark in Denver. Again, this is in the regular season.
• The most recent game was a Broncos 24-6 win over the Raiders in Denver. It was the Aqib Talib chain-grab game on Michael Crabtree.

• The last Broncos home win over the Raiders was the finale to the 2016 season. The last home loss was Dec. 13, 2015, a 15-12 Oakland win (when Mack got five sacks).
• The last Broncos road win was on Oct. 11, 2015, a 16-10 victory. The last road loss to the Raiders was on Nov. 6, 2016, a 30-20 Oakland win.
• The longest winning streak for the Broncos over the Raiders is eight games, from Nov. 6, 2011-Dec. 13, 2015.
• The longest winning streak for the Raiders over the Broncos is 14 games, from Nov. 21, 1965-Dec. 19, 1971.
• The Broncos have netted two shutouts in this series. The last one was on Oct. 16, 1995 in Denver, a 27-0 win over the Raiders.
• The Raiders also have netted two shutouts in this series. The last one was Nov. 22, 1992 in LA, a 24-0 win over the Broncos.
• The largest win for the Broncos over the Broncos is 37 points, a 44-7 victory on Oct. 5, 1962 in Denver at then-Bears Stadium.
• The largest win for the Raiders vs the Broncos is 51, a 51-0 Oakland shutout on Sept. 10, 1967 in Oakland.
• The most points the Broncos have scored in the series vs the Raiders is 47. It happened on Dec. 28, 2014 in Denver, a 47-14 win.
• The most points the Raiders have scored in the series vs the Broncos is 59. That happened on Oct. 24, 2010 in Denver, the 59-14 game. That was the beginning of the end for the guy we don’t name here.
• The most combined points for the Broncos and Raiders is 74, a 38-36 Denver win on Sept. 7, 1986 in Oakland. Again, this is for the regular season.
• The fewest combined points for the Broncos and Raiders is 12, a 9-3 Oakland win on Dec. 1, 1980 in Oakland. Again, this is for the regular season.
• The Broncos and Raiders have only met twice in the playoffs. The magical 20-17 Broncos win on Jan. 1, 1978 in Denver in the AFC title game. Even though I wasn’t born yet, knowing the history of the franchise and how much Denver struggled against the Raiders is why this rivalry still means so much.
• The other postseason game was a 42-24 Raiders win over the Broncos on Jan. 9, 1993 in LA in the AFC Wild Card game.

• During the last seven seasons, the Broncos have compiled a 28-10 overall record vs the AFC West. It's the third-best division record in the NFL.
• The Broncos own the NFL’s best home record during Pat Bowlen's tenure as owner (1984-to the present) with a 209-77 (.731) overall mark. Why isn’t Mr. B in the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
• C.J. Anderson enters Sunday's game vs the Raiders at fifth in the NFL with 235 rushing yards. Anderson can become the sixth Broncos running back, and the first since Terrell Davis, to get at least 300 yards rushing in four consecutive seasons.

• Von Miller ranks 3rd in Broncos history with 76.5 career sacks. That leads all NFL players since he entered the league in 2011. Miller needs 2.5 sacks to tie Bronco Ring of Famer Karl Mecklenburg (79) for second place in Broncos history. Miller also needs two sacks to become the first Broncos defender with at least five sacks in each of his first seven seasons. Miller is tied with Simon Fletcher for most 10-sack seasons in Broncos history w/five. He trails only Reggie White in NFL history in the first six seasons of a career.
• With his 83.7 field goal percentage, Brandon McManus holds the best career mark in Broncos history for kickers. That includes postseason, with a minimum of 20 attempts.
• Talib can tie Darren Sharper and former Raiders great Charles Woodson for second-most interception returns for touchdowns in NFL history. How sweet would it be for Talib to tie the record on Derek Carr today?

• Talib also holds the Broncos record for pick-sixes at six. He's ahead of Tyrone Braxton & Mike Harden. Chris Harris Jr. is tied at fourth with three.
• Demaryius Thomas needs 60 yards receiving to reach 8,000 for his career and become the seventh active player in the NFL to reach that mark. Rod Smith holds the Broncos record for most consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving at six. Thomas could tie Smith this season.

• With a win today, Vance Joseph can become the fourth Broncos head coach to get victories in his first two games against AFC West rivals.
• The Broncos lead the NFL on third-down efficiency having converted 23-of-44 (52.3) third-down attempts entering Week Four. The Broncos rank first in the NFL in rush defense having allowed just 59.7 yards per game entering Week 4 vs the Raiders. Denver has to make sure it does the same today to make Oakland one-dimensional.

We will find out today where this game ranks in the classic series. Hopefully with the Broncos laying a historic walloping on Oakland.
