It is time for you to place your bets on who will be this year’s Training Camp star.

Good morning, Broncos Country.

It has been a long road to travel this offseason which has been the equivalent to gridiron purgatory, but we are less than a day away until the start of the Denver Broncos’ 2017 Training Camp festivities. All I can say is — it’s about time! Justin Simmons is ready, are you ready?

Training camp is a fantastic opportunity to get to see how a team has changed from one year to the next. It is also provides coaches and fans alike to witness the individual progression of a player. Each year, the team seemingly always has a player who comes out of the woodwork and has such an incredible camp, that they are dubbed the next best thing to don the orange and blue.

Back in 2007, defensive tackle Marcus Thomas inspired many not only with his play on the field, but his ability to to back-flips. Unfortunately, his status as a training camp extraordinare never translated to the regular season, and Thomas washed out of the league several years down the road.

A year later, fourth-round selection Jack Williams was dubbed as the next big thing at defensive back for his penchant for picking off passes during camp. As the saying goes, the NFL means not for long and Williams’ career came to an abrupt end after playing in only 22 contests.

Throughout his career as a Bronco, wide receiver Cody Latimer has flashed big play potential and moments of gridiron brilliance during camp, only to fizzle out and do nothing of note offensively during the regular season. Quite simply, it’s now or never for the former Indiana Hoosier, who is inching closer and closer to the moniker draft bust.

And last season, Jordan Taylor was able to make enough of an impression to merit a spot on the team’s final roster, but will face tough competition this year with the addition of several players at the position via the draft.

Now it is time to do your best Nostradamus impression and place your bets on who will be this year’s training camp superstar.

I’ll place my bet on third-round draft selection Carlos Henderson. I will also take it one step further and state that not only will he flash what he’s capable of during camp, his abilities will translate and have a positive impact for the franchise this coming season. The team wanted more juice on offense and that’s exactly what he is going to provide.

Whether it’s deep down the field, accruing uncanny amounts of yards after the catch or making the ultimate snag for a game-changing score, I expect Henderson to wow all those in participation at training camp and be an X-factor for the franchise this season.
