Wake has 5 sacks, and 4 of those have come in the last 4 games. What’s even more impressive is he’s getting better later in the season, despite the snap count staying in the 35 range each and every game. His run defense is as high as it’s ever been. Cameron Wake and his representation can rightfully claim longevity and production, and age is nothing but a number when it comes to the rigors and pain-staking detail with which Wake maintains his body.

The defensive end group is volatile to say the least, considering the group is comprised of Cameron Wake, Robert Quinn (possible cut due to potential $13M in cap savings, 0 dead money), William Hayes (will be 34 and coming off an ACL tear, but could be available for Training Camp barring setbacks), Charles Harris (is he officially a bust?), and Andre Branch (questionable production with possibility of $7M in cap savings).

There are some secondary levels of questions to appreciate for this looming negotiation, too. Will Matt Burke be the Defensive Coordinator and what position coaches will come and go? Are the Dolphins going to pursue QB in the 1st round? Does Tom Brady and/or Bill Belichick retire?
