Eagles won’t have Timmy Jernigan for Saints game

Not ideal.

Saturday’s 4:00 PM deadline has come and gone without the Philadelphia Eagles activating Timmy Jernigan to the 53-man roster. This means he won’t be eligible to play in the Eagles’ Week 11 road game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

After starting the season on the non-football injury list due to offseason back surgery, Jernigan returned to practice earlier this month on November 5. That’s when the Eagles’ 21-day window to either activate Jernigan to the roster or shut him down for the season began. The Eagles still have nine days to activate Jernigan so perhaps he’ll be able to return in time for Philadelphia’s Week 12 home game against the New York Giants.

The Eagles really could’ve used Jernigan this week. With Haloti Ngata questionable to play, it’s possible that the Eagles could be down to just Fletcher Cox, Treyvon Hester, and “T.Y. McGill” at defensive tackle in New Orleans. Cox is a beast but those other guys aren’t giving this team much. Hester was on the practice squad earlier this season while McGill was only added to the team last week.
