Tight-window attempts will have a higher percentage of accurate-plus throws as we will give the quarterback proper credit for throwing away from the leverage of the defender. Brady led the way in accuracy-plus in tight windows, while ranking fifth overall. Wentz improved dramatically in 2017, leading the way at 47.3 percent overall after ranking 36th out of 37 qualifiers in 2016. This number should regress back toward the mean next season, though Wentz deserves credit for his strong work last season. On the other end of the spectrum, Derek Carr ranked in 2016 at 48.0 percent, but he regressed back to 37.1 percent in 2017, good for only 29th in the league. Brees ranked second on tight-window throws after ranking fifth a year prior. Jameis Winston ranked fourth in overall accuracy and second in accuracy-plus while attempting the fifth-highest percentage of tight throws in the league.

They tried to trade him last year and this offseason. No one was willing to give up a pick because they expected the Eagles to cut him. Teams knew the Eagles just couldn’t pay a role player that kind of money. Besides, the team signed Corey Nelson in the offseason to come in and compete for Kendricks’ job. Nelson is paid like a role player and he’s much better in coverage so that really wasn’t much of a competition. Nelson was going to get the job, barring an injury or arrest or something like that.

Although coaches’ salaries are no longer made public by the NFL, it is widely believed that Pederson is getting around $1 million per year, a windfall for the average working man but a pittance in professional sports. He never made much money as a back-up quarterback for 13 NFL seasons, either. Yes, the Eagles picked up the option on his contract after the Super-Bowl win, giving him security through 2020, but at a price negotiated when Pederson had no leverage. Pederson is far too gracious to say anything, so I will. Chip Kelly made $32.5 million when he coached here – that’s no typo: $32.5 million. At the current rate, Pederson will be 80 years old before he reaches that figure.

It was just one practice, one without pads and no tackling and a lot of players running on and off the field to make sure it was, indeed, 11-on-11, but it was also very hard to watch the Eagles open their Organized Team Activities on Tuesday in the bubble at the NovaCare Complex and not come away impressed with Sidney Jones. Jones, the second-year cornerback who spent most of his rookie season rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in his University of Washington Pro Day about six weeks before the NFL Draft, flew around the field on Tuesday. He was all over the football, seeing action in the slot as the nickel cornerback, sticking to receivers like glue and showing his athleticism and explosiveness with a leaping, high-point interception of a Nick Foles deep pass.

The NFL is determined to fix the public relations problem it ran into when Colin Kaepernick began a human rights protest in 2016, no matter how dumb the solution. One idea discussed at the league’s annual owners meeting this week was the possibility of 15-yard penalties for players who kneel during the national anthem.
