Speaking this past weekend on 94 WIP, Curry gave one surprising reason for his poor play. "I messed my MCL up," Curry said Sunday. "I tried to play through it, and in the long run it ended up hurting me. It is going to be a better year, everything has been perfect so far." Curry said he suffered the injury before the team's Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns, and seemed to imply the MCL bothered him all of last season. He was listed on the injury report with a knee injury prior to Week 1, but he never specified how serious the injury was. He stopped appearing on the injury report after Week 3.

That feels about right. If you're worried about Jeffery's injury history (he has missed 11 games over the last two years), then I won't blame you. However, his potential for big-time production in the Eagles' offense is very good if he can stay on the field. A season ago, the Eagles called nearly 700 pass plays, despite having arguably the worst wide receiving corps in the NFL. Jeffery is now very clearly the best receiver on the team – and by a wide margin. He is going to get ample opportunities.

Andy Reid was very patient and tried to build around McNabb. It feels like Roseman and Pederson don’t want to be as patient. They still want to build around Wentz, but instead of just drafting players or signing someone with upside (like the Eagles did with James Thrash), they went after the top WR on the market and landed Alshon Jeffery. The organization still added a pair of rookie WRs and a rookie RB. They already had several young WRs and a young RB in place. They have a couple of young TEs already on the roster. It isn’t as if the Eagles are in panic mode and making crazy moves. There is a difference in being aggressive and being reckless. The Eagles didn’t trade away future picks. They didn’t give out dangerous contracts. They didn’t sign players with major character issues. These feel like smart, reasonable moves.

The Eagles aren't going to suddenly be the 1999 Rams, but they have a good line and impressive set of skill players. Wentz has been given an excellent group to work with. He has gifted runners, receivers, and blockers. He has backs who can convert third-and-1 or create big plays. Wentz has receivers who can move the chains or haul in 40-yard bombs. The pressure is now on Wentz to use these weapons to lead the Eagles to points and wins.

It has been almost five years since Banner left the Eagles, and the team has made the playoffs just once since his departure. He had a brief stint as the chief executive officer with the Cleveland Browns that ended in early 2014 and since then he has done some consulting work for NFL teams and part-time work with ESPN, a gig, like so many other ESPN jobs, that has recently expired. He said he has no desire to return to the NFL in a major role because he has enjoyed his time with family and friends too much since leaving the Browns.

I think there's a good shot the Eagles win anywhere from seven to 10 games. Is it possible they win fewer games than they did in 2016? Sure. But I think it's unlikely as Wentz and Pederson enter Year 2 with some actual weapons. For the most part, I think the Eagles have improved this offseason, but there are still notable question marks, starting with their corners. That's a huge worry. The offense should be better in 2016, but what about the defense? By most objective measures, the Seattle Seahawks’ 2016 season was a success. They went 10-5-1, won the NFC West title, and advanced to the Divisional round of the playoffs. A lot of teams would love to have that kind of year. However, the Seahawks were merely good, not great, which feels like a disappointment after a string of dominant performances. The core team that went to two straight Super Bowls (and won in 2014) is largely intact, but there are some cracks starting to form in the foundation.
