Emile Heskey: What I really think about 21-year-old Liverpool FC star

Emile Heskey has urged Jurgen Klopp to stick with Joe Gomez in the Liverpool FC team.

The Reds boss has started the new Premier League campaign with Gomez partnering his club record signing Virgil Van Dijk.

Dejan Lovren started alongside Van Dijk in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 loss to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev back in May.

The Liverpool FC star was part of the Croatia team that reached the World Cup final before a 4-2 loss to France in the Moscow showpiece.

Lovren was granted an extended summer break following his exhaustive summer in Russia to provide Gomez with the opportunity to earn a spot in the starting XI.

Gomez has helped Liverpool FC keep three clean sheets in their opening five Premier League games and the Reds have only conceded two goals so far.

Former Liverpool FC striker Heskey believes Gomez deserves to retain his starting spot in the Reds team ahead of Lovren’s return.

I think so,” Heskey told the Daily Star.

“I think they’ve formed a great partnership.

“With Van Dijk, whoever’s playing alongside him has seemed very solid.

“They have a great understanding between them and because of Gomez being so young, I don’t see why he wouldn’t keep with him because that could be a partnership for a long, long time.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.

The Reds signed Fabinho, Alisson Becker, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita in the 2018 summer transfer window.
