James Milner admits Liverpool FC need to be more ruthless in front of goal ahead of the visit of Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
The Reds have made a promising start to the Premier League season following five successive victories to keep pace with Chelsea FC.
Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday afternoon after goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino.
The Merseyside outfit failed to add a cushion to their victory despite registering 17 shots on the north London side’s goal in a one-sided clash.
Liverpool FC have scored 12 times in their opening five Premier League fixtures, but Chelsea FC and Manchester City have scored more goals than Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Reds will host PSG in their opening Champions League group stage game on Tuesday night in search of a sixth consecutive win.
Milner, who has scored one goal and has made two assists in their opening five games, is hoping the Reds can be more clinical in front of goal.
“Nowhere [in the Premier League] is easy to go. This is such a tough place to come as well, they’re such a good team, so it was always going to be tough,” Milner told Liverpool FC’s website.
“But we just had to get that result and grind it out towards the end. It’s slightly disappointing we conceded when we could have been out of sight really, but you never sniff at any win in the Premier League.
“We should’ve been more ruthless than we were in attack I think, with the amount of chances we had, it was just that last decision, whether to pass or shoot and maybe being a bit more patient.
“But I think it was pleasing the amount of balls we won in their half, that was a lot better than it has been in the other away performances. I think we defended well in the other games, but I think as a team from the front today was a lot better and that turned into chances going forward.”
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to La Liga side Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev back in May.
The Reds signed four players in the 2018 summer transfer window.
