Thierry Henry sends negative message to Arsenal fans about Chelsea performance

Thierry Henry has played down the significance of Arsenal’s goalless draw at Chelsea last weekend.

Arsene Wenger showed a pragmatic side as the Gunners managed to contain a Chelsea team that had won their last three Premier League games.

Arsenal were without Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez but the north London side produced a tenacious display to secure a point.

The north London side’s performance has been talked about as a potential watershed moment for the FA Cup holders under Wenger.

Of course some Arsenal fans will point out that there has been a number of potential turning points over the past two or three seasons.

The Gunners were famously 2-0 winners at Manchester City in 2015 as Wenger’s men produced a polished and professional performance to spring an upset at The Etihad.

However, Arsenal still haven’t come any closer to winning the Premier League or the Champions League in the intervening period.

And Arsenal legend Henry was quick to play down the significance of their goalless stalemate at Stamford Bridge.

Henry told Sky Sports: “We said the same thing [progress for Arsenal] when they had the Man City win then we waited two and a half years to see it again.”

The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season and a point adrift of Liverpool.
