Mark Lawrenson is confident Arsenal will ease to a straightforward win against West Brom as long as Arsene Wenger’s men show patience at The Emirates on Monday night.

The Gunners will be looking to build on their resilient goalless draw with defending Premier League champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Arsene Wenger surprised his critics with a conservative line-up for the clash against their London rivals and Arsenal produced a pragmatic performance to secure a point.

Arsenal have endured a mixed start to the 2017-18 Premier League campaign following a return of seven points from their opening five Premier League games.

West Brom have struggled to find the net in the Premier League and only three clubs have scored less goals than the Baggies so far.

So Arsenal should be able to secure three points as long as Wenger’s defence can maintain their recent form after conceding one goal in their last three outings.

However, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson believes patience is the key word for Arsenal in their home clash against Tony Pulis’ men.

“A lack of goals in West Brom’s big problem – there is never anything wrong with them defensively,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“But this is a game that Arsenal will win because they are at home and they will have absolutely loads of possession.

“The Gunners have also got lots of players who can make a difference in games like this and, even if they have to be patient, they will find a way to get past the Baggies in the end.”

Arsenal signed Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record £52m deal in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners added Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Schalke 04 back in June.
