Jamie Redknapp sends challenge to Man United star Paul Pogba

Jamie Redknapp has challenged Paul Pogba to blossom into a Manchester United midfield general.

The France international moved to Manchester United in a world-record £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus back in the 2016 summer transfer window.

Pogba was criticised for a series of subdued performances throughout the 2016-17 campaign despite finishing the season with four goals and three assists.

The 23-year-old scored Manchester United’s opening goal in a 2-0 victory over Eredivisie side Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm on Wednesday night.

Writing in his Daily Mail column about Pogba’s first season back in the Premier League, former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Redknapp said:

“I’ve seen it before with several good players — some just don’t know how to handle the hype — but Pogba has had to deal with an awful lot.

“He has had to justify his world-record price tag and recently lost his father.

“Pogba is still an excellent player. His challenge is to be a midfield general more consistently but his display will have given him confidence to do so.”
