Juan Mata sends heartfelt message to Man United duo ahead of Man City clash

Juan Mata has spoken of his disappointment to see Manchester United duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo pick up injuries.

The Red Devils enjoyed a near-perfect weekend after Manchester United were 2-0 winners against Burnley thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney at Turf Moor.

Liverpool suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to relegation-threatened Crystal Palace at Anfield to offer Manchester United the incentive in the top-four race.

Manchester City lost 2-1 in extra-time to Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley ahead of Thursday night’s derby at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Manchester United did suffer a blow ahead of their top-flight game after Ibrahimovic and Rojo suffered serious injuries during last week’s 2-1 win against Anderlecht in the Europa League.

Writing in his blog One Hour Behind about Manchester United’s latest injury setbacks, Mata sent a message to the 35-year-old striker and Argentina international.

“The last few days have been very good in terms of results but those good feelings have been tarnished by Marcos and Zlatan’s injuries.

“These situations just happen in football, that’s for sure, although they’re never easy to take… Now it’s time to be patient and strong to face the recovery period and I’m sure both of them will do their best. The rest of the team will support them.”
