2-20-06 Fishing Report

Yesterday I went to a small Lake near Cloquet known to hold large sunnies. It's a smaller, shallow lake, about 150 acres and I haven't found a spot deeper than 7 feet.

I fished from about 1230pm until 615pm. I caught about 10 sunnies, no consistent action was found. I fished three separate spots, all within 150 yards of each other on the south east side of the lake. Depth ranged from about 4 to 6.5 feet. I caught one walleye (about 15") at about 3pm in 6 feet of water on a eurolarvae, and one smaller pike at about 5pm on a wax worm. All fish were released.

I had a tipup with a shiner down from 3pm onward, with no action. The only flag was because some dog wandered out and sniffed too close.

It was about 20 degrees out, and snow moved in while I was fishing. The official report:

A good day to fish, but the 12 or so caught weren't quite worth the 2.5 hour drive.
