49ers 53 man projection and more

The 49ers are heading into their last preseason game against the Chargers, most of the 49ers starters will not see any action which will give players trying to make the Roster one last shot. Here is a look at our 53 man projection that will take the field opening day against the Vikings.

QB: Jimmy Garoppolo, CJ Beathard
RB: Jerick McKinnon, Matt Breida, Kyle Juszczyk, Alfred Morris, Raheem Mostert
WR: Pierre Garçon, Marquise Goodwin, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis, Kendrick Bourne, Richie James
TE: George Kittle, Garrett Celek, Cole Hikutini
OL: Joe Staley, Laken Tomlinson, Weston Richburg, Mike McGlinchey, Mike Person, Joshua Garnett, Garry Gilliam, Jonathan Cooper
DL: DeForest Buckner, Arik Armstead, Solomon Thomas, Earl Mitchell, Sheldon Day, Cassius Marsh, D.J. Jones, Jeremiah Attaochu, Jullian Taylor
LB: Reuben Foster, Malcolm Smith, Fred Warner, Brock Coyle, Mark Nzeocha, Dekoda Watson, Korey Toomer
DB: Richard Sherman, Ahkello Witherspoon, Adrian Colbert, Jaquiski Tartt, K’Waun Williams, Jimmie Ward, Tarvarius Moore, D.J. Reed, Greg Mabin, Tyvis Powell
Special Team: Robbie Gould, Bradley Pinion, Kyle Nelson

So there you have it, those are our picks for the 53. Those 53 will help lead the 49ers to a record of 10-6. There is a changing of the guard in the Nfc West and some of the recommended sites listed here have the 49ers at +300 to win the NFC West, ahead of Seattle (+450) and Arizona (+1600) but most will back the reigning champs Los Angeles (-160). Those odds imply that the Niners have a 25% chance to win the division, which some might say is too optimistic. While the early returns on Jimmy Garoppolo have exceeded all expectations, the roster still has some holes, particularly on defense (and even more particularly in the secondary). Meanwhile, the Rams added the likes of Brandin Cooks to an already lethal offense, along with Ndamukong Suh, Aqib Talib, and Marcus Peters to their Aaron Donald-led defense. Their roster is downright terrifying and Sean McVay has the acumen to make the pieces fit.

Anything can happen this season, but we will stick to our guns and say 49ers finish the season 10-6, make the playoffs, but lose in wild card round.
