John Lynch is far from done making moves to upgrade a roster that was in dire straits when he took over.

The Roster that General Manager John Lynch inherited from Trent Baalke was a barren wasteland of under talented players who would have had a hard time even making a roster for other NFL teams. After a whirlwind of activity that saw the 49ers sign a bevy of players at multiple postions, the team is turning it’s focus to another need.

Saints free-agent  Running back Tim Hightower is set for a visit in Santa Clara today. Hightower spent his first three seasons as a member of the Arizona Cardinals and put up averages of 4.2 and 4.8 YPC in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

After undergoing knee surgery for a damaged ACL and dealing with a joint infection, he caught on with New Orleans and served as the primary backup to Mark Ingram. He most likely is being looked at to fill the same role with the 49ers as a change of pace to incumbent Carlos Hyde.

The 49ers also made another roster move this morning in re-signing defensive lineman Chris Jones, terms of the deal, tweeted out by his agent indicate that its a one-year contract. Jones was originally signed off of waivers after being released by the Miami Dolphins. For a team in need of depth at almost every position this is a good move that will allow Jones to compete for a spot along the 49ers line.
