Lippi offers Amauri no guarantees

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has played down talk that Amauri's decision to take citizenship will lead to his inclusion in the country's 2010 FIFA World Cup™ squad.

The Brazil-born Juventus striker became an Italian citizen earlier this week and expressed his desire to represent the Azzurri.
This does not mean that he will be certainly called up. He will be followed like all the other players.

However, when asked about Amauri, Lippi refused to be drawn in. "This does not mean that he will be certainly called up," he said. "He will be followed like all the other players. I am taking this month to evaluate and take decisions that have to be made exclusively for the good of the national team."

The 29-year-old has struck five goals in 27 league appearances for the Turin giants this season.
