World number two Rafael Nadal reclaimed the French Open title when he demolished fifth seed Robin Soderling 6-4 6-2 6-4 at Roland Garros.
Nadal is now just one short Borg's Open era record of six French Opens and avenged last year's fourth round defeat to Soderling, the only man to beat Nadal at Roland Garros in the six year's the Spaniard has played there.
Victory in Paris also ensured Nadal will overtake Roger Federer and return to the top of the world rankings on Monday, after the Swiss player failed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
The Spaniard, who turned 24 on Thursday, controlled the vast majority of the match as he over-powered Soderling with his best performance of the tournament and wrapped up the title when the Swede hit into the net after 98 minutes.
