Inter Milan Threaten To Sue La Liga Chief

Inter Milan have announced they will take legal action against La Liga chief Javier Tebas for his comments about their pursuit of Luka Modric.

The Liga President claimed the Nerazzurri “have no money to buy players but then offer a mountain of money”, before questioning the origin of the funds.

He also accused Inter of “tricks” in their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Modric, as well as aiming a dig at Juventus.

Lega Serie A were the first to hit back at Tebas’s comments, releasing a statement saying:

“The Lega Serie A is surprised and upset by the declarations of Liga President Javier Tebas,” read a statement this evening.

“These comments were made without having any knowledge, yet damage the reputation and put into doubt the integrity of two Italian clubs and the League.

“The Lega Serie A cannot passively accept comments that use the media to destabilise us on the international stage.

“Serie A clubs operate within the parameters set by all international rules, which is why the Lega Serie A is going through a period of great optimism and enthusiasm, shared by media and fans all over the world, who grew exponentially in recent seasons.

“At the start of a season that will bring four Serie A clubs back into the Champions League group phase, we are certain that the rediscovered spirit and prestige of Serie A shouldn’t frighten opponents, but rather motivate the European panorama towards new apexes of competitiveness and entertainment.”

Inter then followed that up with their own announcement that they intended to sue Tebas for his comments.

“FC Internazionale Milano announces that it will take legal action against Mr. Javier Tebas in the face of statements made today in the Press,” a brief statement on the Nerazzurri’s website reads.

It has already been a tumultuous week for the 56-year-old, whose plans for a Liga match to be held in the US came under fire.
