The New Guy: Kole Lind

Canucks second pick, 33rd overall

With the 33rd overall pick, the Canucks have selected Kole Lind from the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.

By The Numbers

Born: October 16, 1998, Shaunavon, SK

Position: RW

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 178 lbs.

Hand: Left

Notable Rankings

Hockeyprospect.com: 25th

ISS Hockey: 24th

NHL Central Scouting (NA): 23rd

What We Like

Kole Lind is playmaker (Are we seeing a trend here?). His game is by no means flashy, although 87 points in 70 games would suggest that he has offensive prowess. The 30 goal scorer has a heavy shot, exceptional passing, and is a strong skater.

What Concerns Us

Defensively, Lind has some room to improve. His offensive game is currently ahead of his defensive prowess, which is not abnormal for players of this age range. Because of his strong skating skills we should see improvements as his body fills out.

What’s Next

We should get a great look at Kole Lind this year at the Young Stars tournament, and maybe a pre-season game in Vancouver, but most likely Lind is headed back to Kelowna where he will be a leader for the Rockets.
