4 Things You Might Have Missed In Man Utd vs Newcastle United

Newcastle United travelled to Manchester for their Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Red Devils marched past Newcastle United with a comfortable 4-1 win and the good news seems to be back for Mourinho and his men. Manchester United stand second on the Premier league table with 26 points after match-week 12 eight points behind city rivals Manchester City. Dwight Gayle scored for the visitors in the 14′ min before Anthony Martial equalised for the home team in the 37′ min. The Reds went ahead in the extra time of first half due to a header from Chris Smalling. Manchester United completed the routing as Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku scored in the second half. There were some exciting moments in the match that saw the return of Pogba after missing 12 matches this season due to a hamstring injury. Zlatan Ibrahimovic also came on replacing Martial in the final quarter hour after being out of action since April. Some incredible things happened that shaped the match in an exciting way.

Here at Arsedevils, we discuss the 4 things that you might have missed in Manchester United vs Newcastle United

1. Pogback With A Bang

Paul Pogba is back in action after an absence of 12 matches which saw United lose 2 Premier League matches in this duration. Pogba picked up where he left off before his unfortunate injury sidelined him. He scored on his return and also set up Martial for the equaliser with a crisp and clean cross. The Frenchman put up an inspirational performance dictating the tempo in midfield. Apart from his direct influence on the scoreline, his passing was impressive and the trickery and creativity was another reason for the fans to cheer for.

2. Newcastle United Striker Dwight Gayle First To Score At Old Trafford This Season

Newcastle United striker Gayle became the first player to score against Manchester United at Old Trafford this season. United defense considered the best so far conceding only 6 times in 12 matches in the Premier League this season. The Reds have hit the back of the net 15 times at home so far in 5 matches without a reply from their opponents. However, Dwight Gayle broke the duck United have maintained in the 2017/18 season.

3. Premier League Should Be Ready To Be Zlataned

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is fit and ready to get back to action and Premier League teams should be prepared to face Lukaku and Zlatan together. Pogba wasn’t the only big name to return for United. Ibrahimovic came on to replace Martial in the last quarter of the match. Zlatan has been sidelined since April due to a ligament-knee injury but his comeback is nothing less than a miracle. The Swede’s every touch on the ball was cheered by the home fans and he looked to influence the game at every opportunity. It was really a treat to see the big man back on the field.

4. Lukaku Ends Goal Drought Against Newcastle United

Romelu Lukaku completed the rout for the Red Devils scoring the final goal in the 70′ min. Lukaku scored after failing to hit the net for eight consecutive games for Manchester United and is second in the top scorers list in the Premier League this season. The Belgian rediscovered his goalscoring touch by shooting past Elliot into the roof of the net. It was a all good night for Jose Mourinho as Pogba and Ibrahimovic returns for selection into the first team. However, the headlines was sure to be grabbed by Paul Pogba winning the Man Of The Match award. It seems United are back to challenge Pep Guardiola’s team for the title though they are too ahead of any team. GGMU….!!!! Please share your views in the comment section below.
