The Barcelona offices at the Ciutat Esportiva were extremely busy today as two transfer deals were announced.

After a successful medical, Barcelona announced the loan deal of Nahuel Leiva.

He joins the club until 30 June 2018 and would be playing for the Barca B team. At the end of the deal, Barcelona have the option of making the move permanent.

Like Lionel Messi, Leiva was born in Rosario and also plays in attack.

The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks of Villarreal CF and has also featured for their first team.


It had earlier been revealed that the loan deal was done, and Barcelona have today made it official.

Barcelona had to reach a three-way agreement with Real Betis and Villarreal. Nahuel moved to Real Betis from Villarreal last season on a two-year loan deal which Barcelona had to negotiate him out of.
                                

The youngster has already featured for the the Spanish U21 team.

He was also part of the Spanish under-19 team which won the 2015 UEFA European Championship in Greece.


Nahuel has played seven La Liga games and two Copa del Rey fixtures for Quique Setién’s team
