EFL Championship Predictions: Fulham, Aston Villa and Reading to win?

Most of the Premier League games are postponed due to FA cup, but all Championship games will be played this weekend. Bristol City, Brentford and Derby are all having tough games, and some may lose their chances of promotion after this gameweek. At a bottom, Birmingham has biggest chance of getting a win as they play against Hull on Saturday.

Fulham vs QPR

Now, QPR really made a surprise against Aston Villa, but can they do that again against Fulham? I wouldn’t say so. It will definitely be a tough game, but Fulham is currently in amazing form, and the fact that Aston Villa lost against QPR is giving them more reasons to win this one. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored seven goals in his last five games and he is finding his form in Fulham, while Ryan Sessegnon has been amazing this whole season. Fulham is well organized in defence too, and they can easily keep a clean sheet against QPR at home.

Fulham to win: 2-0

Barnsley vs Millwall

Millwall is unbeaten in their last 11games and they have won all of their last 5 away matches. They are in amazing form, and Barnsley should be an easy opponent for them. Of course, Barnsley will work hard to get at least a point here, but their form is quite bad recently and they are just 3 points above relegation zone. Millwall can still dream of play-offs, it’s hard, but it’s not impossible. They are good in defence, and considering the fact that Barnsley is struggling to score at home, they can play without pressure on Saturday.

Millwall to win: 0-1

Birmingham vs Hull

Garry Monk is trying to save Birmingham with attacking style of play. They have scored two against Cardiff that has one of the best defenses in the league. From this game, I expect a lot of goals. Hull has been magnificent lately, they are finally on the winning run, and they are scoring a lot. Garry Monk is not the type of manager that will settle with a point, but are they really good enough to find a win against Hull? I expect both teams to score, but it is hard to say if any side is good enough to win.

Draw: 2-2

Brentford vs Middlesbrough

Another hard game for Brentford. They have lost against Cardiff, and now they will play against Middlesbrough, team that plays quite similar style like Cardiff. Middlesbrough is on the winning run, and they don’t want to lose their play-off spot. A lot of teams are waiting for them to make a mistake, and Tony Pulis has enough experience to win games like this. Patrick Bamford is in amazing form lately, and it will be hard for Brentford’s defence to keep him from scoring.

Middlesbrough to win: 1-2

Bristol City vs Ipswich

In their last game, Bristol City couldn’t find a win against Burton, but Ipswich has lost against Hull. Both sides are in awful form and it is hard to say if any of them is good enough to finally win a game. If I have to chose, it must be Bristol City. They are still chasing play-offs, and with their opponents having some tough matches, they will certainly work hard and give their best to win. It is not hard for Bristol City to score, but they must try not to concede if they want to win against Ipswich on Saturday.

Bristol City to win: 2-0

Leeds vs Sheffield Wednesday

Disappointing season for Leeds United. They don’t really have a chance for play-offs anymore, but they have to win as much games as they can. Luckily for them, Sheffield Wednesday is quite awful when it comes to an away performance. They have won only three away games so far and they are in bad form this season. Pablo Hernandez is in good form lately, and Samuel Saiz is fit to play. Leeds United needs to work hard and try to win this one.

Leeds to win: 2-1

Norwich vs Reading

This is the game from which I expect a surprise. Reading is in awful form this season, but now they need a win more than ever. They are finding a back of the net recently, and they just need to stop conceding as many as they did. Luckily for them, Norwich is one of those sides that are struggling to score at home. Nelson Oliveira is injured, and only James Maddison can make a difference for Norwich. Reading can’t afford to lose, they quite close to the relegation zone, and with a win here, they can make their survival much easier.

Reading to win: 1-2

Sheffield United vs Nottingham Forest

Now, this is a tough game. Sheffield United is chasing play-offs, but they can struggle against more defensive sides like Nottingham Forest. At this point, nothing less than a win is a good result for Sheffield United, while Nottingham Forest will certainly try to get a point from this one. I wouldn’t expect a lot of goals here, because games like this can be easily finished with both sides keeping a clean sheet.

Draw: 0-0

Sunderland vs Preston

This is a good opportunity for Preston. They have lost their last game against Fulham when Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a last minute winner, and now they have a chance to get back on tracks. Sunderland is awful at home, they have won only two home games this season, while Preston has been magnificent when it comes to an away performance. Both clubs are fighting for something; Sunderland is trying to get out of the relegation zone, while Preston is trying to get to play-offs. Although both sides will be motivated to win, Preston is simply having a better squad.

Preston to win: 0-2

Wolves vs Burton

After their win against Reading, Wolves are having another easy game. This time it is Burton. Burton is good when it comes to the away games, but their chances for survival are not against sides like Wolves, but more against direct opponents. Their squad is not good enough to compete against top 6 clubs so they will probably try to get a point from this one. Diogo Jota is injured, so both Benik Afobe and Leo Bonatini will probably start. It will certainly be hard for Burton’s defence to keep at least one of them from scoring.

Wolves to win: 3-0

Bolton vs Aston Villa

After losing to QPR, Aston Villa really needs a win. But to be honest, away game against Bolton is not as easy as it looks. Bolton is not in relegation zone anymore, but only because they’ve improved their home performance. However, Aston Villa is having an excellent defence, they are conceding more lately, but most of that was against better sides then Bolton. Bolton will certainly provide a good fight, but Aston Villa is still chasing a straight promotion and they just can’t afford to lose any more easy games.

Aston Villa to win: 0-1

Derby vs Cardiff

On Sunday, Derby County will meet Cardiff. Derby is in awful form and they might lose their play-off spot if they don’t start winning as soon as possible. Cardiff on the other side is in excellent form lately. However, this is a tough game, both sides need a win and both sides will work as hard as they can. This game is really promising a lot of goals, and although Cardiff is in better form, draw should be the most likely outcome.

Draw: 2-2
