The Blues star is a man in demand after a successful World Cup campaign, but the London outfit would veto any offers for him
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has had quite a summer in Russia. The Belgian played a starring role in his side’s third-place finish – their highest in the history, and also picked up the Silver Ball for his heroics. He scored thrice – most recently in the playoff win over England, and also laid two assists in the competition.
His value in the aftermath has unsurprisingly increased and many clubs are said to be vying for his services, especially La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona. Hazard himself hinted at a possible departure after the last game that the time might be right to move on and possibly expressed his desire to join the European champions, his long-term admirers. But now, Chelsea have turned adamant on not letting their talisman leave.
The former Premier League champions are worried that Los Blancos would meet the release clause of £200 million in his contract that currently runs for another two years. But the Spanish giants are looking for reinforcements following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus last week. And the player currently insights is Hazard, who has expressed his desire to play for Real Madrid in the past, and the club too, have been linked with him long enough.
But Chelsea have baulked at the idea of selling their star man, and are planning to renew his contract that will include £300,000-a-week wages with talks between his representatives and the club expected to take place within the next week or so. Barcelona are in the mix too, who’re looking to fortify the midfield following the departure of Andres Iniesta, and they’ve identified a potential target in Hazard too.
If both clubs do end up coming for him, it would be hard for Chelsea to hang on to Hazard.

Even six years after signing him, Hazard remains Chelsea’s most prized asset. Players have come and gone, but the Belgian talisman has delivered come wind, rain or shine. The club must pull out all stops to retain him as the risk of losing him is higher than ever.
