PSG is a club with one and only one target right now – To win the Champions League. And they are planning to strengthen their squad with an addition of N’Golo Kante.
Despite being thrashed by Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League, PSG have not given up on Europe’s biggest prize. To further strengthen their project, the Paris club has decided to fix their Midfield issues with an eye on Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.
Kante to PSG, with Conte?
According to the reports from Canal+, PSG are hoping to sign the French midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window. Kante has won two Premier League titles in the last two seasons, with Leicester City and Chelsea. The midfielder was instrumental in both the title runs as he dominated the midfield for his sides.
PSG’s veteran defensive midfielder, Thiago Motta will be out of contract in the summer and Kante is expected to be a perfect replacement for the Italian. The French outfit are also keen to replace Unai Emery with Antonio Conte, whose future at the Stamford Bridge is uncertain. And the Italian tactician might play a huge role in Kante’s transfer.
PSG should not have any problems in paying the transfer fee for the player but given Kante’s dominating performances in the last three years, Chelsea will definitely be asking for a massive price. EPL’s player of the season in 2016-17, N’Golo Kante has won the hearts of football pundits with his ability to steal the ball in the midfield. The player is also known for his passing and has 89.7% passing accuracy this season.
Chelsea have often struggled to defend and create goal-scoring opportunities in the absence of Kante whereas, the Frenchman’s presence changes the things drastically for the Blues. It was evident against Barcelona where, despite losing 3-0, Kante bossed the midfield battle against the likes of Iniesta and Busquets.

Kante will be in action for Chelsea against his former club, Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Finally, PSG have taken a decision to strengthen their midfield after millions and millions being spent on their attack. In the tie against Real Madrid, PSG’s midfield let them down. And Kante can definitely be the last piece of their jigsaw. But the French club needs to assemble their squad quickly as repeated failures might make it difficult for them to keep hold of their star players. (We are looking at you, Neymar)
