Barcelona star wants a January move with Premier League clubs very interested

Barcelona star has reportedly told the club that he’s ready for a move away from the club with Philippe Coutinho’s arrival locking him out of a starting spot.

After months and months and months of chasing the Brazilian star, Barcelona has finally managed to grab Philippe Coutinho from the arms of Liverpool. Shelling out an incredible £142 million for the 25-year-old, the Catalan giants made Liverpool an offer they simply couldn’t refuse. However, it looks like the Brazilain’s arrival means the end of the road for Andre Gomes.

The 24-year-old has barely made two La Liga start this season and with the World Cup coming up, Andre Gomes is concerned about his place in the national squad.  According to Sport, the Portuguese international is open to a January move, especially if his future Barcelona appearances will solely be from the bench.

It further adds, that Tottenham, Manchester United, Juventus and even Arsenal interested in the 24-year-old. The White Hart lane side Tottenham were heavily linked with the Barcelona man during the summer transfer window and it looks like with the main target Ross Barkley moving to Chelsea, Spurs are ready to revive their interest.

While he’s suffered for appearances under manager Ernesto Valverde, Andre Gomes has still gone on to make 64 appearances in a Barcelona shirt since arriving in summer of 2016. A star before he moved to Barcelona, the 24-year-old did well at Valencia, impressing his fans and critics alike enough to warranty Barcelona interest and then a 35 million move in Jul 2016.

However, since then he’s suffered both with form and injuries and even endured a poor debut season at the Camp Nou. But despite that manager, Ernesto Valverde want to keep who he considers as a key part of his team. According to reports from Sport and even Marca, the club rejected a €45 million offer for Gomes during the summer transfer window but now with Coutinho finally arriving things could change.

Author’s take:

However, while he’s struggled to perform since then the Portuguese international still remains a talented midfielder and would easily fit into the Tottenham midfield, alongside the likes of Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama. If they actually do manage to sign Andre Gomes, Spurs will get a lethal attacking midfielder, a brilliant runner with-the-ball who not only has excellent control but also a superb array of tricks to out-fox a defender.
