Real Madrid star welcomes Neymar to the Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid star Casemiro wants his Brazilian teammate Neymar to know that there is a place for him at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite his Barcelona roots.

The midfield destroyer hopes that Neymar does join the La Liga Champions next summer, with reports of Brazilian being unsettled coming in from PSG. The Los Blancos are looking for their next possible Galactico with Gareth Bale falling prey to injuries and Cristiano Ronaldo growing older, and Casemiro believes that Neymar would always be welcome at Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old made the astronomical switch from the La Liga to PSG in the summer and since then has flourished in his new surroundings. In just twelve games, Neymar has gone one to score 11 goals and produce a further 9 assists for his new teammates. However, any potential fee for the Brazilian could go way past the €400 million, including both the transfer fee and his potential salaries.

While both Neymar and Casemiro are compatriots for Brazil, the two have been foes for a long time with the 25-year-old playing against Real Madrid numerous times during his tenure with Barcelona. However, in an interview, Casemiro said “He’s a star. He knows what he’s doing. He’s a great player and he’ll always be welcome at Real Madrid. I hope he comes, but he’s happy at his club.”

He further added, speaking about Brazil’s chances at the World Cup “We know that in a World Cup, everyone wants to beat Brazil. But we have a great group.”

The two made Tite’s teamsheet playing together for Brazil in an international friendly against England, which did eventually end in a goalless draw. A frustrating game with Brazil missing key chances through Neymar who has only one goal in six games, while England missed the presence of Harry Kane.

During his post-match interview, the Brazilian said “I like the way we played. We did not give them any chances. It was a match with high ball possession and we knew we were playing a team that would be more defensive than the others.”

Author’s take:

Los Blancos need a like-for-like replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo and Marco Asensio still needs to develop his immense potential. But till then, for the time being, Neymar would be a brilliant signing, and maybe Casemiro can do his bit and convince the Brazilian who has the skill, quality and even experience to replace the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
