Silencing Critics
The 28-year-old has come under a lot of criticism because of his performances but he proved his critics wrong with a wonderful goal against La Real in 3-1 at the weekend. With Cristiano Ronaldo suspended and Karim Benzema injured, surprise starter Borja Mayoral scored the opening goal and then provided the cross from which La Real defender Kevin Rodrigues’ own-goal made it 2-1 to Madrid at half-time. Around the 60th minute mark, previously quiet Bale raced clear onto Isco’s ball over the top, finishing smartly to ensure the three points.
Victory against La Real
Visiting Real Sociedad is never an easy task considering how poorly Barcelona have performed there over the years. With a depleted squad, Real Madrid did a great job in notching a victory over a team who had a 100% record in the league prior to this game. Following their recent home draws against Levante and Valencia, and Barca’s 100 percent start to the season, Zidane admitted it had been important not to drop any more points against a La Real team who had won their own first three La Liga games.

Author’s take
Real Madrid looked shaky in their first three La Liga games when they dropped 4 points. With Ronaldo and Marcelo coming back from suspensions and Gareth Bale looking in a decent run of form they might again become the team to beat. Benzema and Kovacic are still going to be on the sidelines for a while but the Galacticos showed they can come up without their star players.
