When Man City teenager Gabriel Jesus inflicted upon himself the fateful feet injury just 13 minutes after the game against Bournemouth took its course on Monday, Pep Guardiola could hardly contain his anxiety for and had been just praying for his recovery. But it seems like Jesus won’t be able to make his appearance for the rest of the season, as the club manager admits.
Though the Brazilian striker successfully underwent a surgery here on Thursday, the possibility of a productive recovery in the near future can’t be foreseen. The metatarsal fracture has rendered him inept for the game at least for a couple of months or so. Guardiola declared, “Last night he had an operation, it was good, really good. The most important thing now is a good recovery.”
He added, “When he will be fit, I don’t know if it will be the end of the season or next season. Now to be calm, all our support to him and his family and waiting for when he is coming back. I don’t know if he will return this season. I don’t know. People say between two to three months.”
Gabriel’s obligation to maintain a distance from the game for such a long span has served an invite to Sergio Aguero to reclaim his position in the squad, and during the match too, it was this Argentine who substituted the teenager immediately following the injury.
The Spanish manager comments, “It’s not easy for the player who does not play. Sergio was more than professional. I don’t have doubts about Sergio – he has to do what he has done since the beginning of his career. Nothing more.”
As of health, Jesus is fine. Only he needs to be away from the game for a while.
