You’d probably think after yesterday’s Performance that it would be quite difficult to pick a man of the match. Well, actually this week might be the easiest decision for man of the match I’ve made seeing as the majority of the squad just weren’t at it yesterday. Before we reveal the man of the match though we’ll see who was close to picking up the award for Arsenal.

First up is Alexandre Lacazette. It may have surprised people that he was starting against a side like Stoke but he definitely held his own. Whether it was linking play well with his team mates, holding the ball up or tracking it down, the Frenchman made a pretty good account of himself at the bet365 stadium. He did manage to find the net again with a thunderous finish but somehow the linesman spotted that his shoelace was offside.

Another one of few standout players for us yesterday was Danny Welbeck. Playing just behind Lacazette he continued to cause problems for the Stoke Defence. Time and time again some slick passing moves would put him in on goal but unfortunately he just couldn’t find the net.

There was no question about who the best player on the pitch for Arsenal was yesterday. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Despite the line-up graphic showing us he’d be playing down the left, he played at right wing back and it really made a difference to his play. He looked much more comfortable on the ball than in recent weeks as he was able to ghost past players before delivering great balls into the box.

Also, when we eventually went down he looked to be the only player attacking with any real purpose as we chased for the equaliser that never came.

He really did put in a complete wing backs performance when you look at his numbers from the game too. Going forward he was a constant threat as he completed eight take ons which saw him then make eight crosses on the day, maybe Olivier Giroud may have been the right option for this match.

In the search for an equaliser he also let of three shots but the highlight for him going forward was his free kick which was wedged over the Stoke defence to meet Aaron Ramsey who should’ve done better one-on-one with the keeper

Could he do the defensive work? Of course, he showed why he could perform well as a wing back by making three interceptions to get Arsenal back on the front foot.

On another day a performance like this would no doubt have been analysed heavily by the pundits at BT Sport, but hey, you win some and you lose some, unfortunately we lose quite a lot away at Stoke.
