The Trip to Self-discovery

It is a well established fact that the world is continually becoming more and more secular and that is something which isn’t necessarily bad. Quite the contrary it has at times been the driving force behind Human progress, thought, and research. Though secularism isn’t per se bad; nothing really ever is, it has been debated by counselors and psychologists that rapid industrialization of the modern world has led to the loss of supporting structures and the sense of meaning that was there in various pre-modern thought systems.

Human beings throughout history have seemed to need Belief Systems not just to explain the world around them, but to provide meaning to their existence. Even modern physicists may speak using terms that in the past would have appeared metaphysical at their core, coming to claim that Reality is just a matter of perception and the way the brain interprets a fleeting world around it.

In such a world where all is being interpreted and pieced together by the mind as a concrete version of reality, albeit one which most of us are conditioned to agree with, I believe that even meaning must be found within and that is the true purpose of spirituality. To provide tools to work with deep inside to bear with reality and everyday problems. That is what “The Grey Savant” is all about. An exploration of various traditions, belief systems and techniques, not as infallible credo, a truth that supposedly cannot be disputed, but as personal ways to cope with reality.

Why savant and why grey then? Well, a savant is defined as someone with in-depth knowledge about a field of study, and this blog is going to be a library of spiritual knowledge, hopefully an extended one. A study of the disputed and particular ways of seeing things which are non conforming. Grey on the other hand is the colour which is associated both with elegance and the mundane aspects of the world. The version of reality which is widely accepted, as well as human nature itself. No light or dark alone, neither actions good or evil. Multidimensional creatures who are capable of both.

With that I welcome you to this place of introspection wholeheartedly. I hope you will find what you came here for and gain some food for thought.
