Faith is an Action Word

The oxford English dictionary defines Faith as a noun which means a complete trust or confidence in someone or something. A second definition renders it as a strong belief in the doctrines of a religion based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

Trying not to disproof the above definitions, I see faith as a verb, an action word which needs to be carried out or experienced, for the bible made it clear that faith without works is dead. Therefore, faith goes beyond a spiritual conviction which must play out in our everyday lives. If a Christian does not live and work in faith, then he cannot have a live experience of the things of God. God expects us to pursue our goals in live with faith knowing that we will win so long as we trust in him.

To buttress this point, I will use the story of pastor Suleiman of Omega mimistries, (a moslem who converted to Christianity in Kaduna, you can browse that for more information), who had a fight with the central government when some moslems were killing Christians in the northern part of Nigeria. Because he hit hard on the government’s islamization agenda, the government decided to castigate him and discredit his reputation.

The said girl, Stephanie Otobor, a prostitute living in Kaduna, was paid to be the hangman. She held a press conference alleging that Pastor Suleiman has been having sex with him and has refused to meet up with his manly responsibilities of taking care of him and a whole lot of other accusations.
Pastor Suleiman, not deterred by her accusations, came to church and the first thing he did was to kneel down before his congregation and said, “in seven days, those accusing me shall also come out to say I have nothing to do with this. The will confess else I cease to be a pastor.”
Not long from when he said that, exactly five days later, the lady involved with her mother held another press conference and told the world that she was paid to do it by the government of kaduna in alliance with a famous lawyer. The mother asked for forgiveness from pastor Suleiman and addressed the daughter as a desperate woman who can do anything for money.

To me, that is faith in action. We must always endeavour to work out our faith gradually to the point where when we kneel to pray, the devil gets afraid and when we declare anything, it comes to pass.

Apostle Paul said that we must always fight the fight of faith, always proving ourselves before the father so that we can be worthy to be called the sons of God. When we have proven ourselves before our heavenly father, then we can be rest assured that we can have all that we need depending on the level of faith that we have attained.

Challenges would always come, but when they do, just know that we have powers within us to always win. We should always remember that whatever the temptation, we have an inherent capacity to fight it off and win over the devil anytime and even if you fail at first, you can always stand again and fight for you shall surely win in the end.

Do not let the fight swallow you, swallow the fight and move on to a higher level of life that you have been called.
